The annual SCCS Grade 4 Bible Retreat was held on October 8th and the formal Bible Celebration was held on October 9th.
Students of Mrs. Booth-Smith and Mrs. Prettie joined together to prepare for the awesome gift of the Word of God through prayer, community, and reflection.Mrs. Nancy Wood, Director of the St. Charles Retreat Center, facilitated the retreat portion of the event. Mrs. Wood’s focus was on the elements of the bible and how the bible itself is comparable to a library, comprised of many unique books. The students then learned how to look up passages in the New Testament. After snacks and recess in the beautiful retreat property, during which the students enjoyed playing tag around the trees, rolling down the hill, playing in the leaves, and observing a fox, the next session focused on the process used to write the bible. Each student was given the opportunity to illuminate a favourite passage from the bible. The students were very thankful to Mrs. Nancy Woods for a very special morning!
The students returned to school for the afternoon portion of the retreat and continued to learn more about the bible from their teachers, Mrs. Aneta Prettie and Mrs. Kathy Booth-Smith.
The evening celebration was held in the school gym. The students led with readings and intentions and sang two songs. Msgr. Comeault attended and spoke briefly about the importance of the Word of Christ and blessed the student bibles. Then, each family came forward, and each child received both a blessing and a bible from his/her parents. To conclude the evening, families from Grades 2 and 3 contributed treats for a reception held in the school cafeteria.
Thank you to all the families for your support in making this an exceptional experience for our Grade 4 students.
